Ceramic
What pulls me into ceramics is the techniques used to mould the material by hand in direct contact with the material. The form can be moulded by hand but, at the same time, the work requires a carefully thought-out process. Clay comes from the ground. Basic techniques of working with the material have been in use for thousands of years. It is a suitable metaphor for time. My ceramic pieces are independent small sculptures, some of which are incorporated into my installations. Ceramics formed a part of my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and I have taken part in various courses from 2015.
I try to illustrate nature’s details, seeds of trees which are expected to choose their place to grow, anonymous sea creatures attaching themselves to man-made structures just as they have attached themselves to rocks for millions of years. I have also illustrated bugs in my installations as pests and detailed faces of pollinators which modern humans have difficulty connecting with.
