My installations aim to faithfully recreate experiences I have had in nature or in a built environment. I use materials to create tactile surfaces that are interesting to touch. The idea of the work has to be apparent in the material and tools used, whether it’s a crayon pencil, chisel or a sewing kit. My art is three dimensional in order to share the space with viewers. They are tangible objects that can be experienced by touching, walking around them and spending time in them. The installations are like a stage ready for action. I spend a lot of time making them and hope that they also illustrate the passing of time and the wearing effect of time. I try to show the way I look at the world. Some installations include sounds in order to amplify the effect. My ceramics tell about my fascination with the direct contact with the material and the techniques used already a couple of millennia ago. I am also involved in community art events since 2008 as part of artists’ group called “Piirakkakerho”, Pie Club. The club has currently four other female artist members.
